CowPots

CowPots are the result of eight years of research and development on finding sustainable, environmentally-enhancing purposes for the 120 pounds of manure that a Holstein cow produces daily.

Developed by brothers Ben and Matthew Freund, CowPots are biodegradable seed-starting containers made of dried, deodorized manure fibers. They hold water well, last for months in a greenhouse environment, and can be planted directly into the ground. As the pots decompose, they continue to fertilize the plant and attract beneficial worms.

Ben and Matthew are second-generation dairy farmers, and have a herd of 225 Holsteins on their East Canaan farm.
